According to a HowStuffWorks article on the history of flying cars, the first attempt at a flying car was the Curtiss Autoplane in 1917. And yet the caption for this 1910 photo says, “The Grawert flying auto-machine has been invented by the German civil engineer Grawert. It can be used equally as a flying machine and as an automobile.”
Has the Grawert flying auto-machine been overlooked in the flying car history books?
